Government decision is attempt to desist from constitutional reservation

Aurangabad, Dec 26:

The government decision to give Maratha Community the reservations in Economical Weaker Section (EWS) category can have an adverse effect on the fight for socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC) reservation at Supreme Court. Hence, the government should withdraw the decision regarding EWS or a massive agitation will be lodged form the coming year, threatened the chief co-ordinator of the Maratha Kranti Morcha, Ramesh Kere Patil in a press conference here on Saturday.

Kere Patil further said, Maratha Kranti Morch organized 58 silent marches, 2 Thok Morchas while 42 youths gave their lives and then the Maratha Community got the SEBC constitutional reservations. The government instead concentrating on how this reservation will retain and what strategy should be adopted for the fight in Supreme Court, decided to give the benefit to the Maratha Community in EWS category, which is not acceptable to the community. Various committees have recommended including Marathas in OBC category. The government should implement these recommendations. A state level meeting and convention has been organized at Aurangabad city on January 1 to discuss various demands and problems of Maratha community, he said.
