Aurangabad, Nov 14:

Majority of the hospitals in the city were decorated and illuminated on account of Diwali festival. The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), District Civil Hospital (DCH) and others served refreshments and sweets, apart from regular meals, to the patients and their relatives on the day of Laxmi Pooja (Nov 14).

The GMCH served sweets to patients and relatives during lunch. The hospital served salad, chapati, mix-veg, pulao and sonpapadi under the supervision of dean Dr Kanan Yelikar and the medical superintendent Dr Suresh Harbade. The dietician Manju Manthalkar was also present on occasion. Employees also performed a traditional pooja of the kitchen.

Many hospitals in the city were decorated and illuminated as a part of the festival of lights. The rangoli designs were drawn in the wards by the enthused staff to provide a pleasant experience for the patients in their hospitals. They distributed refreshments and sweets to the patients, their relatives and all the staff as well.

The DCH, under the guidance of civil surgeon Dr S V Kulkarni and additional civil surgeon Dr Kamlakar Mudkhedkar, has decided to serve sweets, apart from meals, for three consecutive days from today. The dietician Rashmi Joshi said that today''s menu contains sheera.
