Aurangabad, Feb 14: A woman and her five-year-old daughter were drowned and three others were injured after a car carrying them fell into the well at Jamwadi, 5 kms away from the Jalna town on Sunday at about 5 am. The well is being dubbed as a ‘death well’ as this is the second accident taking place here within two days.

Police inspector Yashwant Bagul said the deceased have been identified as Aarti Gopal Fandade (35) and Mahi (5), residents of Singdoh village in Manora tehsil of Washim district.

Aarti’s one and a half-year-old-baby escaped with minor injuries as she was thrown out of the car while the vehicle was falling into the well.

Aarati’s husband Gopal Vitthal Fandale (40), who was driving the car, and Jay Gunvant Wankhede (17) also fell into the well but managed to come out. The police officer said the three have been admitted to the Government District Hospital.

Bagul said the victims were coming from Aurangabad and were heading to their village, Singdoh. When the car reached Jamwadi, Gopal lost control over the wheel, and the car plunged into the well.

It may be noted that on Friday night, a similar incident had occurred when two youths died after a car in which they were driving fell into the same well.

Meanwhile, the villagers resorted to rasta roko protesting against the pathetic condition of the road which causes frequent road accidents. They accused the contractor of leaving a patch of the road without construction. They demanded the police to register a case against the erring contractor.
