Aurangabad, Nov 13:
Taking cognizance of the MP Imtiaz Jaleel''s demand made in the Lok Sabha, the Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority (MWRRA) has directed the Aurangabad''s collector, municipal commissioner, executive director (Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation-GMIDC) to submit an affidavit within four weeks.
The MP had brought into the notice of the Parliament that the Jayakwadi Dam is overflowing. Despite having adequate stock of water in the dam, the citizens of Aurangabad are getting water in taps on gap of 6-8 days.
The MWRRA notice to officers mentioned that the authority aims to regulate water resources within the state of Maharashtra, facilitate and ensure judicious, equitable and sustainable management, allocation and utilisation of water resources and fix the rates for the use of water for agriculture, industrial, drinking and other purposes.
Jaleel also mentioned in the Lok Sabha that it is the sole responsibility of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation to provide an adequate quantity of water to all the citizens. He also underlined how MWRRA violated the norms by announcing parameters regarding water distribution for domestic and industrial purposes on September 22, 2017.
Taking serious cognizance of the MP''s statement, MWRRA immediately issued orders directing the above officers'' concern to submit their affidavit before November 23, 2020.
