Law students can use advocacy as means for social transformation: Justice Abhay Oka

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Justice Abhay Oka, the Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) said that it is a golden opportunity for the students of law to use advocacy as a tool of social work and a means of social transformation.

He was speaking at a special lecture organised on 'Indian Judicial System: Career, Opportunities and Future Prospects' at the Seminar Hall of MNLU on Saturday.

Justice Alok Aradhe (Chief Justice, Bombay High Court and MNLU Pro-Chancellor), Justice Ravindra Ghuge (Judge, Bombay HC), Justice Mangesh Patil (Judge, Bombay HC) and other sitting and former judges of the HC were present.

The programme also witnessed the presence of Members from the local Bar, legal professionals and academicians in and around the city. Justice Abhay Oka shared his experiences with the audience on various avenues that are available to students in the legal profession.

He urged students to fulfil their responsibility toward the poor, marginalised and vulnerable sections of society through the instrumentality of law and the legal profession.

Justice Alok Aradhe shared his valuable insights on opportunities and challenges in the legal profession including the intersection of Law and Artificial Intelligence.

Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr Bindu Ronald delivered the welcome address. Registrar of the University Dr Dhanaji Jadhav proposed a vote of thanks .
