Aurangabad, Nov 24:
The local crime branch (LCB) of Rural Police arrested an inter-State gang of car thieves and seized three cars, motorcycle and seven mobile phones, all worth Rs 20 lakh.
Police inspector Bhagwat Phunde said that Deolgaonraja-based Mahesh Kishor Bhosale went to his maternal aunt’s house in Kannad by his car.
He parked his car (MH-21-AX-3004) in front of his Aunt’s house on the night of November 21. His cousin too parked his car (MH-20-DJ-6488) in front of the house. Next morning, both the vehicles were found stolen.
Bhosale lodged a complaint with Kannad Police station.
During the investigation, police received information that Shaikh Dawood, Sk Manzoor (Dhad, Buldhana), his sons Shaikh Nadeem (22), Shaikh Zeeshan (28) and others Sakharam Bhanudas More (31, Ranirkheda, Jalna) and Deepak Digamber More (20) stolen the four-wheelers.
A team comprising PI Phunde, PSI Sandeep Solunke, constable Sanjay Kate, Dipesh Nagzhare, Shriram Bhalerao, Dheeraj Jadhav, Sanjay Bhosale, Narendra Khandare, Rameshwar Dhpase, Yogesh Tarmale and Jeevan Gholap picked up Shaikh Dawood and his two sons.
During the probe, they confessed to committing the crime and also disclosed names of their accomplices. The stolen car was hidden at Chikhli (Buldhana) and while the number of another car was changed. They also revealed to the police they had stolen a car from Selu in October of the last year. Police seized all the three cars from them. The accused mostly stolen ‘Swift’ model cars from different districts.
