Aurangabad, Feb 27:
A man who cheated 11 persons of Rs 20 lakh-Rs 25 lakh was booked with Satara Police Station.
According to sources, the complainant Sudhakar Vasantrao Tungar (72, Satara Parisar) met the accused Onkar Bhanudas Dalve (29, Renuka Apartment, Mayurban Colony) on July 6, 2020. Both had acquaintance with each other.
Onkar borrowed an amount from Sudhakar on the pretext of investing in insurance and promised to return the amount after some days. Sudhakar asked Onkar to return the money, and the latter gave a cheque to the former.
When the senior citizen produced the cheque in the bank, it was bounced due to an insufficient amount in the account.
Later, the account kept avoiding repayment, citing one or another reason. Sudhakar learnt that Onkar cheated other people of the city in a similar style.
A total of 11 persons, including Santosh Ohala (Aviskhar Colony), Bapu alias Yuvraj Prakash Kshirsagar (Shrikrishnanagar) and Pavan Dhune (Lasurgaon) lodged a complaint against Onkar on Friday. Police inspector Surendra Malale registered a case against the accused.
