Aurangabad, Feb 6:

An hour-long sit-in stir was held at Kranti Chowk on Saturday morning by the Maratha Kranti Thok Morcha to demand Maratha reservation. However, police removed the protesters when they tried to start a rasta roko. Kranti Chowk was abuzz with the slogans raised by the protesters.

Around 300 to 400 youths started a sit-in agitation demanding Maratha reservation at 11 am on Saturday with various placards in their hands. The youths demanded to give Maratha reservation, start a centre of Sarathi in Aurangabad, give Rs 1000 crore to Annasaheb Patil economic development corporation, and stop recruitment till the issue of Maratha reservation is resolved. They also demanded the state government make a sincere effort to lift the reservation stay from the court. After about an hour of agitation, the protesters suddenly descended on the road and started rasta roko. Police immediately stopped the protesters. Protesters were then taken into custody. PI Dr G H Darade, PI Dilip Tare, API A Suryatal, women police officers and staff were deployed in large numbers.

Protesters started fleeing

Some protestors were taken away by police vehicles. As the vehicles proved insufficient, other vehicles were called and other protesters were arrested. However, some protestors started running to dodge the arrest. But police chased most of them and took them into custody.
