Mess of water pipelines continues, 1 line bursts
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The oldest 700 mm water pipeline, which is in the middle of the two pipelines near Jayakwadi Dam, burst on Saturday, affecting the city's water supply.
It may be noted that four water pipelines have been laid so far to quench the thirst of the city. Three of them are operational. One is yet to be operational. They were laid haphazardly, creating a mess of water pipelines near Jayakwadi Dam.
The oldest 700 mm water pipeline which is in the middle of the two water pipelines was burst yesteday. To repair this water pipeline, the other wate pipe of 900 mm line had to be removed and kept aside.
A 700 mm water pipe was laid in 1972 to quench the thirst of the city. Another 1200 mm water pipe was laid in 1992.
Last year, a 900 mm and a 2500 mm water pipelines were laid under the new water supply scheme. All the water pipelines are sometimes on top of each other.
The 700 mm water pipe burst Near Jayakwadi, where there is a 2500 mm water pipe below it. Now, the question for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) is how to repair it.
A new 700 mm pipe had to be installed. For this, the 900 mm water pipe started obstructing. The 900 mm water pipeline was closed on Sunday morning, and some of its pipes were removed and then the 700 mm pipe was installed. This repair work was carried out by the CSMC until late at night.

Water crisis in summer
The 700 mm water pipeline was closed since Saturday, so the city received 35 to 40 MLD of water. The water supply through the 900 mm water pipeline was halted on Sunday. Due to this, 20 MLD of water stopped coming. In
the middle of summer, barely 80 to 90 MLD of water started coming to the city. Due to this, the city started crying for water.
