Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Discussions with German visitors who came to the city as part of a ‘Familiarisation (FAM) Rising Tour’ outlined a broad roadmap for tourism development in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The meeting focused on the historical legacy of the city’s 52 gates, the concept of night tourism, the significance of Grishneshwar Temple, the tradition of ‘Sparsh darshan’, and ways to promote tourism at the international level. The German visitors bid farewell to the city on Sunday morning, expressing their desire to return again.

Mayor Sameer Rajurkar interacted with the German guests on Saturday night along with deputy director of tourism Vijay Jadhav. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the city’s tourism potential. Through a question-and-answer session, Rajurkar also sought insights into the tourism system in Germany and global tourism practices.

The discussion also explored how night tourism could be promoted in the city. Participants suggested highlighting the history of the 52 historic gates and other heritage structures to strengthen historical links and develop tourism and related business opportunities. The proposal to establish a heritage committee was also discussed.

It was also emphasised that the presence of major attractions such as Ellora Caves and Grishneshwar Temple makes the city suitable for developing a world-class meditation centre. Considering that Grishneshwar is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, participants suggested promoting the temple’s unique ‘Sparsh darshan’ tradition globally.

Municipal tourism department to visit Germany

Officials said the tourism department of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation would participate in the ITB Berlin tourism meeting in Germany next year. Arrangements will also be made by the municipal corporation to host future tourism delegations from Germany.

The visitors were also informed that efforts would be made to design tourism experiences encouraging tourists to stay in the city for about eight days, enabling them to explore its historical, industrial, cultural and culinary heritage.
