Aurangabad, March 31:

SSC students will not get additional marks for the qualifying elementary and intermediate drawing examination.

It may be noted that 10th class students are given additional marks between three to seven on the basis of the grade obtained in elementary and intermediate drawing examinations every year.

However, the State Government on March 26 decided not to allot additional marks in the academic year 2020-21 for those who cleared the drawing examination.

The Government will not conduct the drawing examination of session 2020 to contain the spread of COVID.

Those who passed the drawing test before SSC, will be deprived of marks. Such students and drawing teachers are upset over the decision. Significantly, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary invited an application for additional marks a few months ago.

Parents of SSC students feel that why the State Board invited proposals for additional marks when the candidates would not get its benefit.

A candidate who secures seven marks for grade-A, five marks for grade-B and three marks for grade-C. Many students prepared for the drawing examination hoping to increase their score in SSC. Students feel that the Government should withdraw the decision.

State treasurer of Maharashtra Rajya Kala Shikshak Mahasangh Rajesh Nimbekar said that around 10,000 to 15,000 candidates submitted the proposals for the additional marks, so the decision would be an injustice with them.

Vice president of the Mahasangh Prahlad Shinde said that the decision was opposed across the State.

“We held discussions with Higher and Technical Education Minister who assured us of taking a positive decision about allotting the marks. The positive decision would be taken soon,” he added.
