Oil stealing from tankers racket busted

Aurangabad, Oct 28:

The special team of commissioner of police (CP) raided on an open space at Jambhala Shivar on Wednesday and busted the racket of stealing petrol and diesel from the tankers of Hindustan Petroleum Company Ltd (HPCL). The team arrested six persons and seized a tanker, Scorpio Jeep, 7 drums, and diesel cans, all amounting to around Rs 30 lakh.

Diesel and petrol are supplied to Aurangabad city from a supply centre at Nashik. However, some people with the consent of the tanker drivers steal the petrol and diesel from the tankers at Jambhala Shivar. A racket was being operated here for a long time. The special team of CP, Dr Nikhil Gupta received information about it. API Rahul Rode, hawaldar Imran Pathan, Majon Vikhankar, Vijay Nikam, Vinod Pawar, Vitthal Aade and others raided on a open space at Jambhala Shivar where diesel was being removed from the HPCL tanker. Six persons after sight of the police started running but were arrested. The process to register case was going on till late night at Daulatabad police station.

This open space at Jambhala is 10 kms away from the Dhule – Solapur Highway. Around, 8 to 10 tankers are parked here daily. The fraudsters break the seal of the tankers and take out diesel and petrol from it.

After executing the action, the officers informed the district and tehsil supply officers about the raid on phone and asked them to come and do the Panchanama. However, it was informed that their phones were switched off later on.
