Aurangabad, May 19: An old woman Shakuntala Shyam Kasbe (60) was crushed to death by a water tanker at Bhimwadi near Cambridge Chowk recently. The tanker driver fled after the accident.
Many families live in makeshift tin shed houses at Bhimwadi, situated west on Zalta diversion to Cambridge Chowk road. The settlement gets tanker water. On May 17 evening, many men and women were obtaining water from the tanker when the driver suddenly took the vehicle in reverse direction. Shakuntala, who was standing behind the tanker, fell down and before she could know anything she was run over by the tanker.
Residents and relatives rushed her to hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. Her son Sanjay has lodged a complaint with the Chikalthana MIDC police. PSI Sanjay Mante is on the case.
