Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Nearly a month has passed since the state’s Directorate of Health Information and Vital Statistics (DHI & VS) ordered the immediate cancellation of bogus Birth and Death records. However, the Mohalai Group Grampanchayat has still not been able to completely delete all such entries. District health officer (DHO) and district registrar Dr Abhay Dhanorkar said in a conversation that technical issues are causing difficulties in removing all the records at once.
Around five months ago, officials grew suspicious after an unusually high number of birth registrations were recorded in the Mohalai Group Grampanchayat. The bloc development officer (BDO) of Soyegaon questioned grampanchayat official (gram sevak) Tulsidas Gosavi about whether nearly 3,500 birth and death entries had been registered on the CRS (Civil Registration System) portal for Pimpri Antur village between April 1, 2025 and August 2, 2025. Gosavi responded that the user ID for the CRS portal was not in use. This further intensified the BDO’s suspicion.
The matter was immediately reported to the zilla parishad chief executive officer Ankit and district health officer Dr Abhay Dhanorkar. Upon investigation by statistical officers from the district health office, it was revealed that the user ID had been hacked by an individual from Bihar, who carried out the fraudulent entries.
The ZP informed the state Directorate of Health Information and Vital Statistics about the incident. Following the Directorate’s instructions, a case was registered against an unidentified person at Soyegaon Police Station, and the process of cancelling the records was initiated.

Orders to remove records quickly
There is only one computer operator working at the Mohalai Group Grampanchayat. All birth and death records cannot be deleted at once and must be removed in phases. However, instructions have been issued to Gramsevak Tulsidas Gosavi to delete all records as quickly as possible. About 1,100 entries were cancelled four to five days ago, said DHO Dr Abhay Dhanorkar.
