"Radio is timeless, and my work on it will never end," says collector Sanjay Pawar, whose exhibition of 500 radios revives memories of an era when families and housewives relied on radio for entertainment. Now in its second year, it celebrates radio’s legacy.

At a time when digital streaming dominates, Pawar’s exhibition in Cidco revives the golden days of radio. The event was inaugurated on Thursday by SP Vinay Kumar Rathod. Among the collection are rare and vintage radio sets, with over 50 still in perfect working condition. Determined to keep radio’s legacy alive, Pawar continues to expand his collection, ensuring that future generations can appreciate its history.

A lifelong passion for collecting Radios

Pawar, who serves as a Superintendent at Vivekananda College, has nurtured this passion for years. His collection includes radios dating from the 1940s to the present, sourced from both India and abroad. "Since childhood, radios fascinated me. Financial constraints delayed my dream, but after securing a stable income, I finally started collecting them," he shares.

Rare and Historic Radios on Display

Among the prized possessions in Pawar’s collection is a British-era Radiogram, a rare radio that could play seven records in sequence one of the few remaining in India. He also owns radios featured in iconic Bollywood films like Anand and Murphy from the 1940s those once owned by famous personalities. His passion extends beyond radios to other vintage items, including a 130-year-old working telephone, antique lanterns, and stoves.
