Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Adding a touch of modernity to Maharashtra’s glorious history, the State Transport (ST) corporation will soon induct 55-seater ultra-modern buses into its fleet. These new buses have been named after Rajamata Jijau, the mother of Hindavi Swarajya.
The buses will be introduced in phases across the state from March and will also be seen plying on the roads of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Adorned in an attractive saffron and pristine white colour combination, the new buses are expected to enhance the travel experience of passengers.
At present, most ST buses have a seating capacity of around 40 passengers. The new buses, however, can comfortably accommodate 55 passengers. This means seating will now be available for an additional 15 passengers who otherwise had to travel standing on crowded routes. With this in mind, the ST corporation plans to deploy these buses primarily on heavily crowded inter-city routes. To ensure that passengers are not forced to travel standing on busy routes, 55-seater ultra-modern buses with a 3×2 seating arrangement have been procured, the ST corporation said.
How many buses will the city get?
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is likely to receive around 60 to 70 of these buses, said divisional controller of the ST corporation’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division, Pramod Nehul.
