Crime in the Mukundwadi, Sanjay Nagar and railway station areas has raised concern after record offenders allegedly carried out two murderous assaults within two days and created panic by brandishing sickles on a busy road. The three incidents between March 5 and 7 have sparked worries over public safety.

Pawan Shejul (24), a private company employee from Rajnagar, was attacked on March 6 around 9 pm. Krishna Kamble called him for a meeting with Shubham Kakade. When he arrived, Shubham Kakade (21), Akash Jadhav (20) and Krishna Rathod (21), all residents of Rajnagar, allegedly assaulted him with an iron rod, accusing him of giving a statement against them. They threw stones at his head and body and repeatedly struck his head and face with a rod, leaving him unconscious. Locals admitted him to a private hospital at Seven Hills. After his condition stabilised on Sunday, Mukundwadi police registered an attempt-to-murder case.
