Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) Vice Chairman Justice V K Jadhav and its member Vinay Kargaonkar rejected seven original applications challenging the selection process for the post of ‘Clerk-Typist’ conducted by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).

The interim order issued by the court stating that if any action is taken by the MPSC regarding selection/appointment in the meantime, would be subject to the final decision of the original application, has also been terminated.

The MAT also allowed some of the applicants to withdraw their original pleas. So, the general applications filed by the interveners were also disposed of.

The orders paved the way for the further process of the final results of 7,050 candidates, which was halted due to the above applicants challenging the selection process. The Tribunal rejected the applicants' request to continue the interim order issued earlier.

MPSC published advertisements to fill a total of 8,169 posts of combined Group-B and Group-C examinations in January 2023. Of them, there were about 7,050 posts of Clerk-Typist and 468 posts of Tax Assistant.

The preliminary examination was held on April 30 2023 and the main examination on December 17, 2023. After that, the skill test for the post of Clerk and typist was conducted from 1 to 13 July 2024.

The list of passed and failed candidates was announced on the website on September 30. However, due to technical difficulties in the skill test, a demand was made to conduct the test anew. After the commission rejected the applicants' pleas, more than 350 candidates submitted their original applications to the MAT. Therefore, the process of final results was not completed.
