Aurangabad, Oct 18:

A total of 867-gram panchayats (GPs) in the district received Rs 78.58 crore fund from the 15th Finance Commission.

However, nearly Rs 47.78 crore given by 14th Finance Commission is lying unused. So, the ZP members expressed displeasure over pending development works.

One of the ZP members Ramesh Gaikwad said that there are difficulties in using fund due to politicisation, rivalry. He said that Rs 80 lakh allocated for Gevrai was not used.

This year, the State Government curtailed 67 per cent fund for the development work. He said that rural development was hampered as money provided by the 14th Finance Commission was lying unused.

He demanded that bloc development officers should be held to use the fund for GPs. ZP vice president L G Gaikwad said that president Meena Shelke should take the lead and pursue with Rural Development Ministry to get an extension of the deadline for the fund.

Kishor Pawar said that the action plan of the villages is ready so, the fund has remained unused. Panchayat Department officers said that money would be used in a month.

Amount of unused fund tehsil and villages-wise is as follows;

Aurangabad-114 villages (Rs 4.25 crore), Gangapur-11 villages (Rs 2.34 crore), Kannad-138 villages-17.85 crore, Khuladbad-39 (Rs 2.13 crore), Sillod-103 (Rs 7.50 crore, Soyegaon-46- (Rs 98.30 lakh), Paithan-108 (Rs 2.38 crore), Vaijapur-135 (Rs 9.68 crore), Phulambri-71 (Rs 63.47 lakh).
