A special meeting of the Vaijapur tehsil Cooperative Purchase-Sale Society on Wednesday at 12 pm erupted into a clash between Shinde Sena and BJP members over district bank representative selection, with Shinde Sena reportedly taking away the proceedings.
The 2026–2031 district central cooperative bank elections are underway. Vaijapur has 115 executive service cooperatives and 53 other member institutions submitting resolutions to the district registrar by April 9. The meeting, chaired by administrator Omkar Devapure, saw a dispute between Shinde Sena’s Ravasahab Mote and BJP supporter, former president Saheberao Autade, over quorum and selective invitations. Notable attendees included district council member Sanjay Nikam, Shrirao Gaikwad, and several former society and market committee presidents. After initially adjourning, the session resumed half an hour later, and Autade was unanimously elected. Proceedings were submitted to assistant registrar Prashant Ghankekar. MLA Ramesh Bornare reportedly threatened manager Anil Chavan over the resolution but noted Chavan had always assisted the society. Chavan will not file a police complaint but may act if necessary.
