Aurangabad, Nov 1:

After two decades, a service road will come up at the left side of Railway Station flyover.

It may be noted that the State Government started implementation of Integrated Road Development Project in the city 20 years ago. Flyovers were constructed at several places. City’s first flyover was built near Railway Station by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).

The MSRDC tried to acquire land for service road beside the flyover. But the Railway Department refused to give land.

The Road Development Corporation had to construct a service road at the right only.

Residents of the adjoining colonies have to face a lot of convenience due to service road at one side only.

This creates traffic congestion in front of railway station gate and several accidents were also reported near the flyover.

Office-bearers of Aurangabad First, a social organisation took up the issue with administrator of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Astik Kumar Pandey.

He assured the AF office-bearers to construct a service road on the left side of the flyover without taking any land from the Railway Department.

Many vendors earning livelihood through their stall at the entrance of the Railway Station. The Anti-Encroachment Squad of the AMC take action against them time and again. The AMC will develop a hawkers zone below the flyover to provide space to them officially.

AMC City Sakharam Panzade said that there is no problem for the development of the service at the left side of the flyover as the land belongs to the civic body.

“Efforts are being made on war-footing to develop the road. Tender was invited thrice, but, there was no response from contractors. The tender is being floated for the fourth time,” he added.
