The shopping spree in the city had reached its peak on the day of Dhanteras on Friday. The market was crowded from early morning till late at night with citizens buying everything from clothes to worship materials. The city dwellers are all set to perform the Lakshmi Pujan of Diwali on Saturday.

On the occasion of Dhanteras, the devotees worshipped God Dhanvantari in the evening. Dhanvantari puja was also performed in various hospitals, clinics and homes with prayers for a healthy life. On the eve of Lakshmi Pujan, the shopping was in full swing. Buying gold on the day of Dhanteras is considered auspicious. This led to a crowd of customers in the jewellery showroom. There were queues of customers lined up before showrooms in Sarafa and Jalna road. People not only from the city but also from other districts were seen buying jewellery. People bought gold, silver coins, necklaces and mangalsutra. Purchases of brass items are also considered auspicious. The biggest crowds in the market were in readymade garment showrooms and shops. In the evening, literally, many showrooms were so crowded that there was no space to set foot. Materials required for Lakshmi Pujan sold were in high demand. Photo frames of Goddess Lakshmi, idols, rangoli, puja material, ledger were bought. Five types of fruit were being sold. Also, broom is also worshipped in Lakshmi Pujan. Hence thousands of brooms were sold in the city today.

Marigold Rs 120 to 150 per kg

This year, Marigold flower was damaged by heavy rains. As a result, the marigold flower was being sold at Rs 120 to Rs 150 per kg today. Marigold was sold at Rs 80 to Rs 100 per kg in the Jadhavwadi APMC.

Auspicious time for Lakshmi Pujan

Abhyagsana will be performed before sunrise on Saturday. Lakshmi Pujan can be performed between 01.50 pm to 4.30 pm, 06.00 pm to 08.25 pm and from 09.00 pm to 11.20 pm.
