Aurangabad, Jan 15:

The State Goods and Services Tax (GST) Department has unveiled seven bogus traders in the city. These traders made a bogus registration of their businesses and duped the government by evading GST more than Rs 100 crores by showing sale – purchase transactions through it.

This shocking information came to the fore during the investigation by the Aurangabad division’s investigation team. It was found that Indra Traders, Purti Construction and Vidhata Metals obtained GST registration number under the Maharashtra GST Act, 2017 by producing bogus documents. The seven owners of the firms were found presenting the bills without doing the actual transactions. It was found that more than 200 such traders have done the GST registration by producing the forged documents and false information. There would be more such traders in the city, the officers said.
