Aurangabad, Nov 8:

The Covid-19 did not provide a dampener for pre-Diwali shopping in the city as huge crowds were seen flocking to the city’s markets throughout the day. Citizens bought everything from clothes to sky lanterns on Sunday.

As it was the Sunday before Diwali, the markets were teeming with customers. This Sunday was the busiest day for the traders since Dussehra. There were queues outside many shops to buy clothes. After standing in line for one to two hours, the number of customers was still increasing. The rush was such that citizens could not follow social distancing norms. Many stores had customers stand outside the shops even before the shops opened in the morning. The crowd lasted until late at night. Clothes, sky lanterns, rangoli, garlands as well as home decoration items, gift items, sweets, savories, photos of Goddess Lakshmi, idols and lamps were all being bought.
