A grand procession celebrating Lord Mahavir’s birth anniversary was carried out with great devotion and enthusiasm. The event started from Paithan Gate at 8:30 a.m. and concluded at Rajabazar Jain Temple via Gulmandi, Sarafa Road, and Shahaganj. Children actively participated in various displays, and flower petals were showered on palanquins carrying the idols, attracting large gatherings of devotees seeking blessings.
A major highlight was the unique display of “All Jain Monks from Different Sects on One Stage,” organized by Chandraprabhu Digambar Jain Temple, Vishnunagar. The Shantinath Bhagwan Saitwal Digambar Jain Sansthan, Shivajinagar, featured astronaut Sunita Williams in a tableau underlining the core principle of Jainism—Ahimsa Parmo Dharma (Non-violence is the supreme religion). Sumatisagar School presented a live tableau themed “Marry Daughters… Educate Daughters-in-law.” Rajabazar Digambar Jain Mahila Mandal depicted “Agriculture and Commerce,” while Chintamani Parshvanath School highlighted the significance of Jain scriptures (Jinvani). Prerna Swadhyay Mandal of the Dashahummad Jain community promoted the message: “Be Simple and Kind, Choose Vegetarianism.” Look & Learn Jain Gyan Dham exhibited “25 Years – Remarkable Journey.”
Shankheshwar Parshvanath Temple’s chariot from CIDCO N-3 led the procession, carrying the deity’s idol. Ten chariots from Navkar Foundation emphasized the Namokar Mantra and its importance. The Jain Engineers Society showcased an LED video themed “Heritage is Pride, and also a Responsibility.” Jain Shwetambar Terapanth Mahila Mandal presented visuals on “Seven Hells” and “Divine Punishments.”
The Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana offered information on initiatives by the Water and Soil Conservation Department. Children’s active participation added charm to the vibrant celebration. The atmosphere was filled with slogans like “Sweet Words of Jainism, Truth, and Non-violence Are Priceless” and “Heritage is Pride, and Also a Responsibility.”
