The Primary Teachers' Committee will stage a sit-in protest on Monday from 2 pm to 5 pm in front of the Zilla Parishad headquarters, demanding the cancellation of the March 15, 2024, government resolution (GR), which they claim is harming the rural education system.

Under the new policy, schools with 20 or fewer students will not receive teacher positions, leaving over 25,000 primary teachers in Maharashtra surplus. Additionally, upper primary schools with low enrollment have lost all teacher positions, depriving many students of education.

The committee is urging the government to withdraw the decision, and leaders Vijay Salkar, Ranjit Rathod, Nitin Navale, Sham Rajput, and Shaligram Khiste have called for mass participation in the protest.
