Aurangabad, Feb 23:

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University College Teachers Organisation (BAMUCTO) and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University College Teachers Association (BAMUCTA) demanded that permission should not be given to new colleges of traditional courses.

A delegation of both the teachers union met pro-vice-chancellor of the university on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum.

In the memorandum, the university and college teachers unions stated that there are 450 colleges, including 335 non-aided institutes, within Bamu’s jurisdiction.

The university has invited application for new colleges recently.

“Nearly 90 per ent non-aided colleges which offer courses in Arts, Science and Commerce, lack facilities, full time approved teaching and non-teaching staff. The sanction to new non-aided near existing aided institutes location will affect students strength,” the unions office-bearers said.

They demanded not to give permission to new non-aided tradition course colleges as it will have a negative impact on the future of youths.

The memorandum was signed by Dr Maruti Tegumpure, Dr Dilip Birute, Laxmikant Shinde and Dr Umakant Rathod.
