Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Even though artificial intelligence has advanced rapidly in the modern era, the emotional call of “mother” by a woman in a rural household remains far more alive and meaningful than any technology, said head of the Marathi department at Saraswati Bhuvan College, Dr Vrunda Deshpande-Joshi. She was speaking at a lecture organised on the occasion of Sant Tukaram Beej at the cultural hall of Varad Ganesh Temple.

The programme began with a lamp-lighting ceremony and peace prayer. Nirmala Tarte introduced the chief guest.

Dr Deshpande-Joshi analysed the word “Tukaram”, interpreting it philosophically as “Tu Ka Ram?” and spoke about the creative power hidden in the word “beej” (seed). She emphasised that words and language must be used carefully and meaningfully.

Explaining the enduring power of abhangs, she said the term refers to that which can never be broken. She also highlighted Sant Tukaram’s inclusive philosophy, reflected in the message that every living being should be regarded as divine. Temple office-bearers and local residents attended the event.
