Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The Town Planning section, which is a significant source of income for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC), earned a whopping Rs 200 crore in the previous financial year. Last year, the section earned Rs 130 crore through building permissions. This year, the earnings have increased to Rs 154 crore. The Gunthewari Cell also earned Rs 53 crore from land regularisation.

The Maharashtra Government has developed the BPMS (Building Permission Management System) online platform. If someone requires building permission, architects must submit the application file to the municipal corporation’s Town Planning section through this system. To ensure that building permission files do not remain pending, the state government introduced the BPMs system. Deputy Director (Town Planning), Manoj Garje, said that the CSMC earned Rs 130 crore last year through building permissions, occupancy certificates, and layout approvals. Besides, 30.50 crore was collected from land regularisation. In the 2024-25 financial year, the section earned Rs 154 crore, and Rs 53 crore through Gunthewari Cell, making the total earnings from the section exceed Rs 200 crore.

1,500 files approved

In the 2024-25 financial year, the municipal corporation approved 1,570 building permission, out of a total of 2,200 proposals submitted to the municipal corporation throughout the year (2024-25). The remaining files are awaiting approval due to errors, and some files were cancelled. It is expected that once the approved development plan is received by the municipal corporation, there may be a queue for building permission in the section.
