A truck rammed into a bullock cart carrying Raju Dhepe (40, Khamkheda, Phulambri tehsil) and his son Sopaan near Mukteshwar Sugar Factory, Dhamori Khurd, on the Dahegaon- Bidkin State Highway. Raju died on the spot, while his son was injured.
The father and son were traveling to Shendurwada for sugarcane cutting when the speeding truck struck from behind. Sopaan was thrown to the roadside, saving his life, but Raju was critically injured. The truck driver fled, but other motorists chased and stopped the vehicle near Shendurwada, allowing police to apprehend the driver.
Raju Dhepe was rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival. Post-mortem was completed in the afternoon, and the body was handed over to relatives. Waluj Police Station has registered the case, with Assistant sub-inspector Sukhdeo Bhagde overseeing the investigation. The driver remains in police custody, and the formal case filing continued late into the night.
