Aurangabad, April 7:

The percentage of vaccination in the district is increasing since the implementation of mini lockdown, it is observed. Earlier, the vaccine was given to 1,000 to 2,000 persons, but since the past two days, more than 14,000 persons are taking the vaccine daily. The health section has a target of vaccinating 13 lakh persons by the end of April.

In the district, 73 vaccination centres including three private are set up in the rural sector, while there are 77 vaccination centres including 22 private in the urban sector. There is a tremendous increase in the percentage of vaccination in the city limits, while in rural limits, the help of the tehsil contact officer, block development officer, public representatives and vigilance committee is taken to implement the vaccination programme through health centre or sub-centre in each village. The health officials are hoping to complete the target by April end.

2.5 lakh first doses administered

Through the vaccination centres, 38,880 healthcare workers; 43,657 frontline workers; 65,464 senior citizens and 93,712 persons above more than 45 years had taken the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The datewise vaccine chart and the number of vaccine beneficiaries (in bracket) is as follows: March 29 (1,197), March 30 (2,584), March 31 (4,212), April 1 (7,783), April 2 (9,409), April 3 (12,212), April 4 (5,489), April 5 (14,125) and April 6 (14,014).

Target to be completed soon

The district vaccination officer Vijay Kumar Wagh said, " An average of 8,000 to 10,000 vaccination is done daily. In the rural sector, we have planned to get each village 100 per cent vaccinated with the help of the vigilance committee. If the present vaccination average continues then the target will be completed at the earliest. There is a relaxation for citizens going to take vaccine during the lockdown. The police do not stop them. This is also encouraging the citizens to step out of their homes to take the vaccine."
