Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “If someone squanders money, it is said that one spends money like water. Now, the time has come to say that water should be used judicisouly like money,” said Dr Deelip Swami, the District Collector.
He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the one-day Marathwada Paani Parishad jointly organised by Gopinathrao Munde National Institute of Rural Development and Research (GMNIRDR) and Malviya Mission Teachers Training Centre of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) at the main auditorium on Monday to have a constructive discussion on the important issue of water conservation of the region.
Vice-chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari presided over the function. Dr Upendra Kulkarni was the chief guest, while Dr Sanjay Sanluke, director of GMNIRDR, and Dr Satish Patil, director of Malviya Mission Centre, were the guests of honour. Pro-VC Dr Walmik Sarwade and Jaldoot Kishor Shitole were also present.
District Collector Deelip Swami said that people are neglecting things such as water, land, and trees which were provided by nature to human beings.
“Water management should while considering natural resources. It should be used carefully, especially for domestic use. During the last few years, the government, charitable organisations and universities have come together and are doing a great job on water and land. There is a need to implement a campaign to plant banyan trees in villages along with water saving. There is a need to implement an initiative to plant banyan trees in every village along with water conservation,” he said. Dr Mustajeeb Khan conducted the proceedings of the programme while Shailesh Maknivkar proposed a vote of thanks.
