The proposed District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) proposed at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) two years back, will not be established at Narilibaug. The Zilla Parishad health department has started the preparations to establish the centre at Naralibaug and has prepared a proposal amounting Rs 1 crores, is being prepared for it, informed the ZP health committee chairman Avinash Galande.
The ZP health committee’s monthly meeting presided by Galande was held on Wednesday. Considering the possibility of the second Corona wave, a decision was taken to provide Rs 12 lakh funds from the DPC for the PPE kits, masks, handgloves, sanitizers and other equipment at the primary health centres and sub-centres in the district was taken. Similarly, the district medicine store will be shifted to the ZP Girls School and a proposal of Rs 1.5 crores was sanctioned for it, Galande said.
District health officer, Dr Sudhakar Shelke, ZP members Ramdas Parodkar, Manisha Solat, Swati Nirphal, Sarala Bankar, Krishna Borse, Bhaginath Thorat, Dr Vijaykumar Wagh, Siddharth Nikalje, Anil Kamte, Jayashree Kulkarni, Ratna Gondane, tehsil heal officer and others were present.
The first DEIC in the state was proposed at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), two years back. The children for 40 weeks after birth have some deficiencies. In this centres these deficiencies are observed and then it can be treated immediately. For example, the eye diseases can be cured if noticed in the early states. The children upto 3 years are being observed in DEIC. However, this centre remained only on the papers while the DEIC was started at Jalna. The central government provides a staff of 16 persons for this centre.
