Stock Market Today: Sensex Falls 1,100 Points, Nifty Slides Below 22,500

Stock Market On March 30: The Indian stock market on Monday, March 30, 2026, opened with a sharp decline due to weak global cues. In early trade today, the Sensex fell by 1,100 points, while the Nifty dropped by more than 300 points to around 22,500. Selling pressure was seen across the market, with the PSU Bank Index down over 2 per cent. Other sectoral indices were also trading in the red.

Global cues remained weak, with the GIFT Nifty falling by around 275 points to near 22,550 amid rising tensions in the Middle East. Dow futures were also down by 250 points. In Asian markets, indices in Japan and South Korea fell by about 4% each. With markets set to remain closed on Tuesday on account of Mahavir Jayanti, increased volatility is expected due to the monthly expiry in today’s session.

Crude oil prices have surged amid fears of an escalating conflict. Brent crude has risen by around 6 per cent since Friday to above $108 per barrel. Higher oil prices are a concern for India, which relies heavily on imports.

Tensions between the US, Israel and Iran continue to escalate. Israel has reportedly targeted Iran’s nuclear and industrial sites, while Iran has responded with missile strikes. The conflict, now in its 31st day, shows signs of intensifying further.
