The Bangladesh Cricket Board has made it clear that they will not give a no-objection certificate to their cricketers to take part in the remainder of the 2021 Indian Premier League to be held in UAE. "It is almost impossible to provide NOC (for IPL) considering our international commitments. I don't see any chance of giving it (NOC) to them. We have the (T20) world cup coming up and now every match is important,'' Nazmul was quoted saying by Ekkator TV, a private news channel in Bangladesh.

Shakib al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, who represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals respectively in the 14th edition of IPL, arrived from India on May 6 after the tournament was postponed due to a spate of COVID-19 positive cases inside the IPL bio-bubble. Bangladesh is expected to have a busy schedule at that point considering they are expected to host Australia and England, followed by New Zealand. The expected dates of IPL are likely to clash with Bangladesh's home series. Both Rahman and Shakib played in the first half of IPL 2021 as BCB provided them with a NOC till May 18. This was done to ensure that both the players are back at home for national duties. Earlier, BCB's cricket operation chairman, Akram Khan, had said that they were not ready to release Shakib for CPL either.
