The English Cricket Board has appointed Jeetan Patel as their new spin bowling coach for the tours of South Africa and Sri Lanka. The 39-year old former Kiwi international will join the squad ahead of the boxing day test against South Africa which begins on December 26. Patel is currently part of Wellington squad for the Super Smash T20 competition. He is all set to play his last game for the franchise on December 18th against Central Districts.
Speaking about his new role the spinner said, "The opportunity to take up a role with England is one that doesn't come around often and one I simply can't turn down.'' Patel who has scalped 65 Test wickets and 49 ODI wickets has been part of English county sides. He has claimed 473 first-class wickets for Warwickshire and will play one final season next year.
