Deepak Chahar started with a poor first over conceding 11 runs, but Curran bowled a sensible over from the other end, almost getting Buttler. His England team-mate Jos Buttler edged a wide ball and escaped as Shardul Thakur it was just out of Shardul Thakur's reach. Vohra attacked Curran with a six over unmanned deep mid-wicket, but hit the next ball to Jadeja who was stationed after the six. At the halfway stage, there were murmurs of dew playing a key role in the second half and that CSK's 188 wasn't good enough on what looked like a typical Wankhede pitch. However, it was Moeen Ali who made the difference with ball scalping 3 wickets to choke the Royals with spin. 

The Royals leaked 45 runs off the last 3 overs as CSK recovered from Sakariya's blow. Curran was run-out 13(6) looking for a non-existent second run, while Bravo made 20 off 8 balls, including a crucial last ball six. He survived a run-out running for the second run without the bat as he sprinted fast to get his foot in. The bat went soaring into the night sky as he attempted a six off Mustafizur. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, CSK was right on track for a big score before Chetan Sakariya dismissed both Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu in his third over. Put in to bat first, CSK got off to a decent start before it was undone by Mustafizur Rahman, who dismissed opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad in the fourth over.But Faf du Plessis continued his onslaught as he pulled off two back-to-back scoops for boundaries. The South Africa batsman then sliced a six over long-off before smashing another four as he took on Jaydev Unadkat in the fifth over. In end, Sam Curran and Dwayne Bravo's contribution helped CSK get over the 180-run mark.
