Suryakumar Yadav recently took a break from his hectic IPL schedule to visit Shri Hanuman Garhi Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The 32-year-old cricketer had an outstanding year in 2023, becoming the only Indian to be nominated for the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year. He also captained the Mumbai Indians in the absence of Hardik Pandya during their opening IPL match. After his temple visit, Surya is expected to rejoin the team for their next game.In other news, Suryakumar Yadav responded to speculations about his possible move from Mumbai ahead of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, following in the footsteps of Arjun Tendulkar and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Rumors had suggested that the Indian T20I captain might leave his long-time team to join Goa for the upcoming domestic season, especially after Yashasvi Jaiswal’s surprise decision to shift to Goa. Suryakumar dismissed these reports on social media with a sharp post:
"Script writer hai ya journalist? Agar hasna hai toh I will stop watching comedy movies and start reading these articles. Ekdum bakwas," he wrote. Suryakumar has been a pivotal part of Mumbai’s cricketing setup since his junior days, making his senior debut in 2010 across all formats. He has consistently represented Mumbai whenever not on international duty. In the Ranji Trophy, he is Mumbai's third-highest run-scorer with 5,392 runs in 77 matches at an average of 44.93, including 13 centuries. In List-A cricket, he ranks second with an average of 38.66 and three centuries. In T20s, he has accumulated 1,552 runs in 66 matches, trailing only Shreyas Iyer and Aditya Tare among Mumbai players. Mumbai remains the most successful team in Indian domestic cricket history, boasting 42 Ranji Trophy titles, 15 Irani Cups, 8 Wills Trophy wins, four Vijay Hazare Trophy titles, and two Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) championships.
