Veteran actor Dilip Kumar has been discharged from the hospital after he underwent a minor procedure on Wednesday to remove fluid from his lungs. An update on his official Twitter account confirmed that the veteran actor will be returning home today. The yesteryear superstar  was admitted to a non-COVID-19 facility on Sunday after he complained of breathlessness. He was was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion - a build-up of excess fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs. Dilip Kumar was initially to be discharged on Thursday but his family friend Faisal Farooqui had updated that the vetetran actor has decided to rest for a day at the hospital.

 

"He is stable and he is resting at the hospital. There was an option to be discharged today but the family and the doctors decided that we should let him rest one more day in the hospital," he said. A few days ago, the veteran star's wife Saira Banu urged everyone not to believe in fake rumours related to the former's health."My husband, my Kohinoor our Dilip Kumar Sahab's health is stable and doctors have assured me that he should be discharged soon. I urge you not to believe in rumours. While I ask you to pray for Sahab's health, I am praying that the almighty keep all of you safe and healthy during this pandemic," she had issued a statement. Dilip Kumar, who made his acting debut with 'Jwar Bhata' in 1944, has given several iconic films in his career spanning over five decades, including 'Mughal-e-Azam', 'Devdas', 'Naya Daur' and 'Ram Aur Shyam'. He was last seen in the 1998 film 'Qila'.
