Actor and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui, has ventured into satire with his new show, Hafta Vasooli, now streaming on JioHotstar. The show, which offers a quirky and satirical take on current political and cultural events, combines humor with sharp commentary in a unique newsroom-style format.

However, Hafta Vasooli has recently attracted controversy, with a formal complaint accusing the show of offending religious sentiments and promoting obscenity. The complaint has led to calls for a ban on the show. Advocate Amita Sachdeva has filed a petition demanding an FIR under various BNS Sections (196, 299, and 353), along with provisions from the IT Act and other relevant laws. The complaint claims the show "insults multiple religions," "violates cultural values," and is "corrupting young minds and society."

Earlier, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti also called for the show's removal, criticizing its use of foul language and its potential to harm moral values. In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), they urged JioHotstar and responsible authorities to take swift action. The debut episode of Hafta Vasooli, released on February 14, featured guests Sharib Hashmi and Vivian Dsena, followed by the second episode with Saqib Saleem.

This controversy surrounding Hafta Vasooli comes amid another ongoing issue with comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent. The latter gained attention after a guest, Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps), made an inappropriate remark to a contestant, resulting in multiple FIRs and even parliamentary discussions. Samay Raina ultimately removed all episodes of the show from YouTube.
