Superstar Rajinikanth underwent a Carotid Artery revascularisation procedure on Friday and is likely to be discharged from the hospital after a few days, said the Chennai's Kauvery Hospital in a statement. Rajinikanth was hospitalised on Thursday after he experienced some giddiness. His publicist Riaz K Ahmed had said then, “It is a health check-up done routinely on a periodical basis. He is now in a private hospital for the check-up.

”Dr J Amalorpavanathan, a noted senior vascular surgeon who has served in several government medical institutions for decades, was quoted as saying by news agency PTI that the CAR is "a procedure to restore blood supply to the brain." Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin wished the superstar a speedy recovery. "Get well soon...," the Chief Minister said, conveying his wishes to the actor for an early recovery. On the work front, Rajinikanth will next be seen in , "Annaatthe" (Elder brother), an action movie and directed by Siva, is all set for theatrical release on Deepavali (4 November).
