Puffed rice, murmura, or muri is consumed as snacks in many Indian homes.  When you are hungry and it is snack time you can just add some oil in pan and fry puffed rice, sprinkle salt and pepper on it, and your snack is ready. But how healthy is puffed rice? It is healthy, they are for health and nutritious to eat. Puffed rice certainly be considered as a nutritious food. Also known as 'kurmura' it is very popular in Maharashtra, Bihar, Kolkata, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Gujarat. Although puffed rice are popular for their special taste, they also have many health benefits. 

How are Puffed rice nutritious?

  • 100 grams of murmurs are rich in carbohydrates, protein, calcium, magnesium, iron. Puffed rice does not contain unhealthy fats and cholesterol. Therefore, eating puffed rice has more health benefits.
  • Dietitians say that spicy puffed rice should be eaten for nutrition. 100 grams of puffed rice contain 90 grams of carbohydrates, which provide energy to the body. When the body gets carbohydrates, energy comes and fatigue goes away. If you eat 100 grams of murmurs every day, you will not feel weak. And the important thing is that eating puffed rice only benefits the body and there is no harm.
  • Puffed rice aids digestion. Puffed rice contains fibrous substances that benefit the intestines and also relieve stomach problems. You will not suffer from constipation when you eat puffed rice. If you have stomach ache or heartburn in the morning, it is beneficial to eat puffed rice. Puffed rice contain good bacteria that prevent constipation.
  • Puffed rice which is very light in weight, helps to increase the strength of the bones. If the bones are not strong, it is advisable to drink milk, but experts say that if you eat 100 grams of puffed rice with milk, it provides important vitamins B, B2 and B1. In addition, puffed rice contain a large amount of calcium, which is beneficial for the strength of teeth and bones. That's why experts recommend eating puffed rice with milk to maintain bone health.
  • Puffed rice is rich in sodium. It is beneficial in hypertensive disorders. Sodium in puffed rice helps control blood pressure. Dietitians advise people with high blood pressure to eat murmurs.

Eating Puffed rice is beneficial for weight loss. Because eating Puffed rice fills the stomach quickly and does not cause hunger for a long time. So we can prevent ourselves from eating junk food and the result is weight control.  There are many types of nutritious Puffed rice.
