January 20 will officially mark the end of Donald Trump controversial US presidency. The new US President-elect Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris will be sworn in.  The inauguration ceremony will take place on the West Front of the US Capitol building that was overrun by pro-Trump supporters earlier this month.The Inaugural Ceremony will be hosted by award-winning American entertainer Keke Palmer with prominent names such as Lady Gaga and Tom Hanks slated to attend the inauguration. First Lady-elect Jill Biden and historians Erica Armstrong Dunbar and Doris Kearns Goodwin are also expected to address the event. 

Only about 1,000 people are expected to attend the inauguration included members of Congress.Due to the pandemic, the usual celebrations have been dialled down. The event, aimed to start at 10 am local time, will feature a first ever live stream for “young Americans.”The ceremony will be followed by America’s long standing tradition of the ‘Pass in Reviews,’ where the military will reflect the peaceful transfer of power to a new Commander-in-chief. The official ceremony will conclude with a “Parade Across America,” that features communities from across the nation and their performances. The parade will be televised at all the major American networks.

When will Joe Biden, Kamala Harris swearing-in take place?

The Inaugural Ceremonies for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will begin at 10 pm (Indian Standard Time) [11.30 am Eastern Standard Time] on January 20. However, this will be preceded by a curated live stream organised by the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) which is expected to begin around 8.30 pm (Indian Standard Time) [10 am Eastern Standard Time]. The inauguration ceremony will be aired at all the major US networks, including ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, MSNBC, and PBS.
