If you have been walking for more than 30 minutes, you should consume a small amount of water. Keep in mind, however, that you should not drink excessive amounts of water. Drink just enough to quench your thirst and ensure your body remains hydrated. If you are walking during the summer months, you may take a small sip of water every 15 to 20 minutes. Doing so helps prevent feelings of fatigue. Avoid drinking a large volume of water all at once.

When Should You Drink More Water?

Drink one glass of water 10 to 20 minutes before you head out for your walk. Once your walk is complete, wait 20 to 30 minutes, then sit down and drink water comfortably. If you find yourself sweating while walking, take that as a sign that your body requires hydration.
