The celebrations of Maha Shivratri 2025 begin today (February 26) across the country as Shiva devotees rush to their nearby Shiv temple to offer prayers and attend early "Aarti." On Mahashivratri, people gather at temples and worship the Shiva Linga.
On the occasion of Maha Shivratri, Shiva devotees visit Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple is also known to be one of the Char Dham temples that devotees strive to visit at least once in their lifetime. However, restrictions are in place as akharas and Naga sadhus will take a procession towards the grand temple. The akharas arrived at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, where the Naga sadhus, along with their followers, were welcomed with a shower of flowers.
