The sighting of the crescent moon of Ramadan is one of the magnificent scenes that brings joy and anticipation for the blessed month of Ramadan. Many tales and stories, especially with the current advancements in astronomy and electronic monitoring tools, are associated with the sighting of the crescent moon.

Preparations Begin in Saudi Arabia's Sudair to Sight Ramadan Moon:

In the past, the only way to see the crescent moon was with the naked eye, and there were no means to spread the news of sighting the Ramadan crescent due to the absence of radio and television. Various methods were used to convey this joyful news, from traditional methods like echoing drum sounds reaching nearby villages to signalling with bonfires on mountaintops (beacons), indicating the completion of Shaban, along with the sound of cannons near gathering places.

Saudi Arabi's astronomer and expert in solar and lunar observation, Mohammed Al-Thaqafi, said that reliable astronomical observatories across the Kingdom have contributed to developing methods for detecting and confirming the sighting of the crescent moon.
