American doctor Brianna Connor, speaking to Verywellmind, said that cortisol face is a temporary condition. In which the face starts looking round due to excessive stress. This condition is basically “moon facies”. In this, there is excessive swelling or fat accumulation on the face. The face looks round and puffy. Sometimes the face also hurts. This condition can be a sign of a disease such as Cushing’s syndrome. This problem can also be caused by taking steroid drugs for a long time.

When to worry?

If your face is swollen only during stress, does not hurt and gets better after a few days, it can be called cortisol face. This is a common side effect of stress. But if the swelling on the face is constantly increasing, there is pain, along with weight gain, and weakness, then see a doctor in time.
