Alandi: Ahead of Sant Dnyaneshwar palkhi departure ceremony, 22 Warkaris test COVID-19 positive

The departure ceremony of the Sant Dnyaneshwar palki, known as the prasthan, will be held on Friday at Alandi in the presence of invited Warakaris. Against this backdrop, RTPCR test of 204 Warakaris was conducted on Thursday. Out of which at least 22 Warakaris test report has come COVID-19 positive, including the mayor of Alandi.

Warkari, Mankari, Talkari, Gawkari etc. invited for departure ceremony through Alandi Devasthan trust and Alandi Rural Hospital were tested for Covid-19 for two days.After the covid test, the concerned Warakaris were quarantined at the nearby Fruitwale Dharamshala. Meanwhile, after receiving the test report of the concerned Warakaris, it has been seen that a total of 22 participating Warakaris, the mayor of Alandi and the staff of the temple have tested coronavirus positive.

Meanwhile, the administration has appealed to others who have come in contact with the corona-positive Warkari after entering Alandi to get their RTPCR test immediately.

Earlier, the Maharashtra government had given permission for 100 warkaris (pilgrims) to be present at the ceremony, but after a request made by the Alandi Devasthan trust, one representative from each of the 430 registered dindis (groups) were allowed.
