Beed: Case Filed Against Satish Bhosle After Viral Video Shows Man Assaulted with Cricket Bat (Watch)
In Maharashtra’s Beed district, police have registered a case against five individuals, including a supporter of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Suresh Dhas, after a disturbing video surfaced showing them assaulting a man with a cricket bat. The video, shared by activist Anjali Damania on her X handle on Wednesday, was filmed in Bavi village, located in Shirur taluka of Beed.

Damania later clarified that she had spoken to Beed's superintendent of police, Navneet Kanvat, who informed her that the incident occurred a year and a half ago. However, no case had been filed at that time as no complaint was made. In response to the viral video, the Shirur police took action and registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Wednesday night.
The police are currently working to identify the man who was attacked and understand the motive behind the assault. BJP MLA Dhas confirmed that the assailant in the video was his party worker, Satish Bhosale. According to Dhas, the incident was related to an alleged case of a woman being teased, and the assault occurred outside Beed. He also emphasized that Bhosale would face legal consequences if anyone came forward with a complaint.
The five individuals involved in the assault are facing charges, including voluntarily causing hurt and using dangerous weapons, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. This incident has gained attention, especially considering Dhas's recent involvement in high-profile political matters, including his outspoken stance on the brutal murder of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh in December. Dhas had previously demanded the resignation of Nationalist Congress Party leader Dhananjay Munde over his alleged links to the mastermind of the sarpanch's murder. Munde resigned from the Maharashtra cabinet on March 4, following the release of graphic videos and photos that revealed the brutal nature of Deshmukh’s killing.
