Child Marriage in Beed’s Kapildhara: Police Book Organisers and Family Members of Minor Bride
The child marriage that was stopped on Thursday at Kapildhara, in Beed, has now taken a serious turn. In a significant move, police have registered a case not only against the girl’s parents and the groom’s family but also against the organisers of the wedding place. The marriage involved a bright female student who had scored 85 percent in her Class 10 examinations and was pursuing science.
The girl’s mother reportedly rushed into arranging the marriage after being deeply shaken by a daylight kidnapping of a young woman in Gevrai on December 18, 2025. Fearing that her daughter was unsafe and was being harassed by a boy, she decided to get her married immediately. The situation was worsened by the fact that the girl’s father was unemployed, creating a sense of insecurity within the family. As a result, the future of a talented student was pushed into marriage at a young age. Acting on a tip-off, social activist Tattvashil Kamble and the anti-human trafficking unit conducted a raid at Kapildhara.
As police arrived during the ritual of kanyadaan, the groom and wedding guests fled the venue, while the minor girl was taken into protective custody.
